West Salem
News - March 2010 PDF Print E-mail
There’s quite a buzz in the school district about “the church that pampered the Brush College staff” last fall.  Westgate Assembly provided luxury transportation and a catered lunch to both honor and encourage the school’s staff, and the partnership continues to grow.  Likewise, Vineyard Fellowship of Salem is serving Myers Elementary, as well as hurting folks under the bridge (the subject of a future story!).  The Oasis congregation meets at West Salem High and is working on a project called ‘Cargo of Dreams’ with Chapman Hill. The Interfaith Hospitality Network annual dessert is April 29.   SLF Lightning Rod: Herm Boes, 503-569-9364.

Interfaith Hospitality Network - 10th Anniversary! PDF Print E-mail

Dozens of churches and hundreds of volunteers are gearing up for the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Salem Interfaith Hospitality Network, which has its Day Center at 1055 Edgewater NW.

Since it opened the doors to homeless kids and families in May 1999, Salem IHN has served hundreds of people with dignity, hospitality, shelter, and connections to permanent housing.  SLF and IHN are close partners and there are few ministries that have helped “the Church do the work of the Church” better than IHN.  Even if you’re full of “fancy desserts” from our upcoming shindig, please plan to come to Mission Mill Museum on Thursday, May 28, for another evening of inspiration and faith-in-action.  RSVP to IHN’s new director, Andy Lane, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
