SALUTING THE SLF SUMMER INTERNS.    Like many nonprofits and ministries, SLF has a summer-internship program to engage promising young professionals and provide meaningful work experience.  The program is facilitated by Rian Rasubala, our McKay-area Lightning Rod, who by the way was an SLF summer intern in 2015!  Each summer we seek to engage 3-4 college students and/or folks with promise.  We’ve had interns as young as high-schoolers and as old as 30+.  If the potential, the availability and the fit are there – we seize the opportunity God provides.  If you (or someone you know) would like to learn more about the internship program and application guidelines, contact Rian at Rian@salemLF.org and he’ll provide the details.

Kennedy Bigham

Kennedy may look familiar because this is her third summer interning with SLF!  This year, she is focusing her time on our CaN (Churches as Neighborhood) Centers programs with Dwayne Hilty, our CaN Centers Director.  She’s also interning with The REC bowling/youth center (Valor Mentoring) in Keizer.  Busy!  A graduate of West Salem High, Kennedy is an honors-college student at Texas Christian University as a religion major.

Elias Orso

Eli is a recent graduate of Salem Academy and is attending Grand Canyon University as a communications major.  His career aspiration is to enter the workforce as a crisis chaplain, and he has been able to meet with local professionals in this field.  Eli is working closely with Noel Bryant, our Sprague-area Lightning Rod, and is organizing an amazing youth-football event later this month at Calvary Chapel (a CaN Center church) for middle-schoolers, youth groups and families.

Kevin Gonzalez

Kevin Gonzalez graduated from South Salem High and is on staff at Isaac’s Room/IKE Box serving youth and community.  He also has worked with youth in a major way through YoungLife at North Salem.  Kevin and his wife Bri – who interned with SLF in 2019! – have been married almost three years Kevin is working this summer with Robert Garcia, our West Salem Lightning Rod, on projects in the field.
